Quién soy
Hola, soy Sergio Alejandro Medina Ospina, estudiante de primer año de Ciencias e Ingeniería de Datos (GCID) en la ULPGC, en Gran Canaria.
Siempre me gustaron las matemáticas y la informática, y cuando descubrí que había una carrera que combinaba las dos cosas con las salidas laborales que tiene hoy la inteligencia artificial y el análisis de datos, la decisión fue fácil.
Ahora mismo estoy en ese punto en el que ya me defiendo, escribo código en Python, entiendo los fundamentos de la estadística, pero hay cosas que todavía no me cuadran del todo, y eso es exactamente lo que me empujó a crear este blog. Porque explicar algo obliga a entenderlo de verdad.
Aquí no encontrarás a un experto. Encontrarás a alguien que está aprendiendo contigo, que comete errores, que busca por qué su código no funciona a las dos de la mañana, y que cuando por fin lo entiende lo escribe para que tú no tengas que pasar por lo mismo.
Si estás estudiando algo relacionado con datos, programación o estadística, o simplemente tienes curiosidad y ganas de aprender matemáticas, este es tu sitio.
Qué encontrarás aquí
Este blog crece conmigo. Ahora mismo estoy en primero, así que el contenido refleja exactamente dónde estoy, pero el plan es mucho más ambicioso:
- 🐍 Lenguajes de programación — desde instalar el entorno hasta escribir código que haga cosas útiles de verdad. Sin saltarse pasos.
- 📊 Estadística aplicada — no la estadística de memorizar fórmulas, sino la de entender qué te están diciendo los datos y por qué importa.
- ➗ Matemáticas — las que necesitas para entender lo que pasa detrás del código. Explicadas como me hubiera gustado que me las explicaran a mí.
- 📈 Visualización de datos — porque un buen gráfico vale más que mil números en una tabla.
- 🤖 Machine learning — todavía no estoy ahí, pero hacia allí vamos. Cuando llegue el momento, lo documentaré todo aquí.
- 📁 Proyectos reales — análisis con datos reales, no solo ejercicios inventados. Porque es donde todo cobra sentido.
El hilo conductor de todo es el mismo: aprendo, lo entiendo, lo escribo. Si te sirve, mejor que mejor.

Who I am
Hey, I’m Sergio Alejandro Medina Ospina, a first-year student of Data Science and Engineering (GCID) at ULPGC, in Gran Canaria, Spain.
I’ve always liked maths and computers. When I found out there was a degree that combined both and that data and AI were becoming some of the most in-demand fields out there, the choice was pretty clear.
Right now I’m at that stage where I can hold my own, I write Python, I understand the basics of statistics, but there are still things that don’t fully click yet. That’s exactly why I started this blog. Because explaining something properly forces you to actually understand it.
You won’t find an expert here. You’ll find someone learning alongside you, someone who makes mistakes, googles why their code isn’t working at 2am, and writes it all down so you don’t have to go through the same thing.
If you’re studying anything related to data, programming or statistics — or you’re just curious and want to learn some maths, you’re in the right place.
What you’ll find here
This blog grows with me. Right now I’m in my first year, so the content reflects exactly where I am, but the plan goes much further:
- 🐍 Programming languages — from setting up your environment to writing code that actually does something useful. No steps skipped.
- 📊 Applied statistics — not the kind where you memorise formulas, but the kind where you understand what the data is telling you and why it matters.
- ➗ Maths — the maths you need to understand what’s happening behind the code. Explained the way I wish someone had explained it to me.
- 📈 Data visualisation — because one good chart is worth more than a thousand numbers in a table.
- 🤖 Machine learning — not there yet, but that’s where we’re heading. When the time comes, I’ll document everything here.
- 📁 Real projects — analysis with real data, not just made-up exercises. Because that’s where everything starts to make sense.
The thread running through all of it is the same: I learn it, I understand it, I write it down. If it helps you too, even better.
