Privacy policy

On this page I explain what personal data is collected on SergioLearns, what it is used for and what your rights are, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD).

What data is collected and why

Comments. If you comment on an article, the name, email and website you provide are stored, together with your IP address and browser details, in order to publish the comment, reply to you and prevent spam. Your email is never published. An anonymised code created from your email is sent to the Gravatar service to show your profile picture if you have one. Legal basis: your consent when submitting the comment.

Email. If you write to me, I use your data only to reply to you. Legal basis: your consent when contacting me.

Chat assistant. The website includes a chat assistant. The messages you write in it are processed to give you an answer. I recommend not including personal data in the conversation. Legal basis: your consent when using the chat.

Analytics. With your permission, I use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the website is used: pages visited, reading time, device or country. It helps me know which content is useful and improve it. Legal basis: your consent through the cookie banner.

Advertising. If the website shows Google AdSense ads, Google may use cookies to show ads, measure their performance and, if you accept, personalise them based on your interests. Legal basis: your consent through the cookie banner.

How long data is kept

  • Comments: as long as the comment remains published.
  • Emails: for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
  • Analytics: according to Google Analytics retention periods, which I have set to the minimum reasonable.
  • In any case, you can ask for your data to be deleted at any time.

Who data is shared with

I do not sell or give your data to anyone. For the website to work, some providers process data on my behalf:

  • Hostinger, website hosting.
  • Google (Analytics and, where applicable, AdSense).
  • CookieYes, cookie consent management.
  • Automattic (Gravatar), profile pictures in comments.
  • AI Engine, chat assistant.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. In those cases they do so with the safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

At any time you can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability, and withdraw your consent, by writing to sergio@sergiolearns.com.

If you believe your rights have not been respected, you can file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).

Minors

This website is intended for university students. If you are under 14, you need your parents’ or guardians’ permission to leave comments or send me your data.

Changes to this policy

If the way I process data changes, for example when adding a newsletter, I will update this page and the date above.
